ROCK ROSE MCGUIRES GOLD; Cistus (Hybrid)

    • Plant Type: Evergreen, low-mounding shrub
    • Size: Approximately 18 inches tall and 30 to 36 inches wide
    • Foliage: Striking all-gold to golden-yellow evergreen foliage that provides year-round color contrast
    • Flowers: Charming, delicate white cup-shaped flowers with yellow centers/eyes
    • Bloom Time: Late spring to early summer (typically May through July)

    Growing Conditions & Care

    • Light: Full sun
    • Hardiness Zones: USDA Zones 7 through 10
    • Soil: Prefers poor to moderately fertile, well-draining soil (tolerates mildly alkaline conditions)
    • Water Needs: Drought-tolerant once established; allow the soil to dry out between waterings. Avoid overwatering, which is a common stressor for rockroses.
    • Maintenance: Self-branching and does not require heavy pinching or frequent pruning (light cleanup of dead wood can be done after flowering).
    • Resilience: Deer-resistant and well-suited for sunny slopes, dry rock gardens, coastal settings, and fall mixed containers.
